Job summary

Eatonville School District is seeking an Office Assistant to provide clerical support at the school site, handle communications, and distribute materials accurately. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, strong English writing and spelling, and fingerprint/background clearance.

First Aid certification and a valid driver’s license are preferred. The position offers SEBB benefits and retirement plan, reflecting district standards.

Responsibilities

  • Answers telecommunication system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.
  • Composes documents, (e.g. correspondence, agendas, minutes, bulletins, reports, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to school and district personnel, the public, state officials, etc.
  • Dispenses medication as prescribed by a doctor and at parent request.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability of required items.
  • Maintains various records, schedules, files, rosters, etc. for the purpose of documenting and/or providing reliable information.
  • Monitors individual students, classroom and/or playground activities for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Performs emergency first aid in the absence of the secretary and/or principal.
  • Processes documents and materials (e.g. schedules, agendas, mail, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
  • Responds to inquiries of staff, the public, parents and/or students for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as may be required.
  • Supervises students for the purpose of monitoring students referred for disciplinary actions.

Morning Dispatch - Monday - Friday, 2hrs/day, 5:30 AM - 7:30 AM

Rates are for 25-26 school year and do not reflect increases for the 26-27 school year.

Purpose Statement:

The job of "Office Assistant" is done for the purpose/s of providing requested clerical support at school site; communicating various information regarding activities and/or in response to requests; and providing for timely and accurate distribution of materials.

Essential Functions:

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior job related experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Skills to operate standard office equipment including use of computer applications, use English in both written and verbal form, use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Working Conditions:
  • - Ability to sit for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instruction. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/visual accommodation.
Mental Demands:
  • - Usual office working conditions with exposure to numerous distractions and interruptions. Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Requires concentration and attention to detail for repetitive tasks; may deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
Physical Demands:
  • - Exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; required to sit for prolonged periods; requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching; dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer. May require lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds.
  • Examples of reaching/handling/fingering are reports, telephone, computer keyboard, files; talking/hearing are conversations with students, general public in person and via telephone; seeing the computer screen, bulletin board, reviews reports and records.
