Job summary

Cox Automotive in Tampa is seeking a skilled buffer/bain technician to ensure OEM-quality finishes on repaired panels after painting, using finishing abrasives and compounds per SOP. The role emphasizes maintaining surface quality and strict adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include buffing, inspecting for color match, and addressing overspray while supporting refinery operations with proper technique and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2 - 5 years buffing experience or body shop experience preferred; Respirator Fit Test required.
• Paint Training Certification as defined in HAPS 6H regulation required.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
• Ability to lift 1-15 pounds and stand/walk as part of duties.

Responsibilities

• Inspect refinished body panels for color match and finish texture; report issues to management.
• Prepare surface for buffing using proper finish sanding products and techniques.
• Restore refinish panels to OEM quality using buffer and SOP-defined compounds.
• Inspect remaining surfaces for overspray and remove as needed.
• Remove and clean residue from buffed panels and ensure finish quality.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
