Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Body Shop Painter to prepare repaired panels for refinishing, ensuring a smooth topcoat with proper sanding. You will follow the SOP to remove scratches and ensure quality primer application, working on-site at a Cox location.

The role offers production-based pay with a flag-hour rate, requiring attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and ability to perform repetitive sanding and finishing tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of body shop and/or prepping experience preferred.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
• Vision abilities include color vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Inspect repairs and primed panels for proper body work and primer application per SOP.
• Review incomplete damage or improper repairs with management before proceeding.
• Mask adjacent panels to prevent scratches during final sanding.
• Prepare repaired and primed panels for final finish using abrasives and tools as directed.
• Avoid over-sanding or under-sanding and refinish panels as needed.
• Clean dust from panels before moving vehicles to the next step.
• Support safety program and participate in Safety Excellence activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, including training new employees.
