Position Summary

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a flexible, experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our San Marcos campus as a Substitute OTA Instructor. In this PRN/on-call role, you will step in as needed to deliver pre-planned classroom lectures, guide hands‑on laboratory activities, and maintain instructional continuity for our Occupational Therapy Assistant students when primary faculty are away.

This is an ideal opportunity for practicing clinical professionals who want to gain teaching experience or support healthcare education on a flexible, as‑needed schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Classroom Continuity:

Lesson Delivery: Step in on an as‑needed basis to execute daily lesson plans, lectures, and practical demonstrations prepared by the primary instructor or Program Director.

Lab Supervision & Safety: Facilitate hands‑on skills labs, guide students through clinical technique practice, and enforce lab safety protocols.

Student Engagement: Maintain an active, supportive, and structured learning environment that encourages student participation and comprehension.

Academic Recordkeeping & Communication:

Attendance & Progress Tracking: Record accurate student attendance and document daily student progress or lab completions during coverage shifts.

Faculty Handoff: Communicate effectively with primary faculty and the Program Director regarding course coverage, student performance, or any issues encountered during substitute shifts.

Education:

Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by USDE or CHEA .

Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program recognized by USDE or CHEA .

Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of occupational experience in the field of Occupational Therapy .

Licensure & Credentials: Active, unencumbered California state license or credential as an Occupational Therapist (OTR) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) .

Teaching Competency: Documented expertise in area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of content delivery methods .

Technical Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and basic computer applications.

Hiring Range: $35.66 to $44.54 per hour.

Schedule Flexibility: On-call / PRN scheduling as coverage needs arise.
