Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapy Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities include attending and contributing to patient care, staffing conferences, and meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist. They are responsible for delivering rehab services effectively and efficiently, adhering to the established plan of care, and documenting services timely.
The OTA works with the rehabilitation team to develop programs tailored to each patient's needs, instructs patients, families, and caregivers in therapy techniques, and maintains proper documentation. They also maintain equipment and report repairs as needed.
They ensure patients and families receive high-quality, compassionate service, implementing individualized treatment plans, and providing interventions across various areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities.
The OTA organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist and performs other duties as required.
