Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapy Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and other meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department and patient(s)' schedule, and timely documentation of services. Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities suited to each patient's needs and capabilities. Instructs patients, families, and caregivers in occupational therapy skills and techniques under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Maintains appropriate documentation for all patients treated, and reports equipment needs or repairs as necessary.
Puts Patient Service First: Ensures patients and families receive high-quality, compassionate care that recognizes individual needs and rights. Implements individualized treatment plans established by the primary Occupational Therapist. Provides interventions including, but not limited to: cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist. Performs other related duties as required.
