Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapy Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and other meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities include ensuring the effective delivery of rehab services, adhering to established plans of care, and maintaining timely documentation. Works collaboratively with the rehabilitation team to develop programs tailored to each patient's needs. Instructs patients, families, and caregivers in therapy techniques under supervision, and maintains appropriate documentation. Maintains equipment and reports repairs as needed. Puts Patient Service First by providing compassionate, high-quality care that recognizes individual needs and rights.
Implements individualized treatment plans established by the primary Occupational Therapist. Provides interventions across areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual and sensory abilities, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities. Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist. Performs other duties as required.
