Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings.

On assignment, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include attending patient care, staffing conferences, and contributing as a representative of occupational therapy.

Other duties involve ensuring effective delivery of rehab services, adhering to care plans, documenting services timely, working with the rehab team to develop programs, instructing patients and families, maintaining equipment, and providing high-quality, compassionate patient service.

Specific interventions include application of therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual and sensory abilities, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities. The role also involves organizing treatment groups and performing related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program according to AOTA & ACOTE standards.
• Initial certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• Must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in the state of practice.
• Available to travel and temporarily reside outside the primary home location.
