Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapy Assistant - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment, the Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides treatments to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Responsibilities include attending patient care and staffing conferences, developing programs with the rehabilitation team, instructing patients and caregivers, maintaining documentation, and ensuring equipment maintenance. The OTA ensures high-quality, compassionate patient service and implements individualized treatment plans, applying therapeutic techniques across various areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual and sensory abilities, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, and physical agent modalities. The OTA also organizes treatment groups in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist and performs other related duties as required.
