Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist for the Inpatient Rehab department at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph, MI. This part-time role focuses on evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and educating patients and caregivers to restore function.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in OT, Michigan state license on hire, and NBCOT certification (OTR). BLS certification is required. Eligible for benefits with employment type.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited OT program.
• State of Michigan Occupational Therapist license upon hire.
• OTR certification (NBCOT) upon hire.
• BLS certification on hire (AHA or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Evaluates disability level to plan treatment and recommend courses of action.
• Provides a treatment program and education to restore maximal function.
• Assesses treatment effectiveness and adjusts goals and methods as needed.
• Documents evaluations and treatments per department standards and compliance.
• Trains rehab staff and medical personnel on patient needs and services.
• Contributes to process improvements, patient satisfaction, program development and marketing.
• Maintains productivity per department standards.
• Updates skills through continuing education and competencies across patient populations.

Job description

Job Summary

Provides therapy to patients based on patient need and medical direction. Provides patient/caregiver education and arranges for adaptive equipment as needed.

Essential Functions

• Performs evaluation procedures to assess the level of disability with regard to scope of practice, goals and a plan of treatment, and to make appropriate recommendations.
• Provides a treatment program and education to restore and return maximal function to the patient.
• Assesses effectiveness of treatment and modifies goals / treatment methods, as needed to meet changing needs.
• Documents evaluation and treatment of each patient in compliance with department standards, medical-legal and reimbursement procedures.
• Instructs and trains other rehabilitation staff, nursing, other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
• Participates in ongoing process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives/improvement, program development and marketing activities.
• Demonstrates productivity as indicated by department standard.
• Improves skill areas as demonstrated by applying continuing education in-services, participating in competencies in applicable areas, and developing new concepts of patient care and additional skills with various population groups.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited occupational therapy program
• Occupational Therapist - State of Michigan Upon Hire
• Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Upon Hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association 90 Days Or Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Red Cross 90 Days

Preferred

• Master's Degree Hand Therapist, Certified (CHT) - Hand Therapy Certification Commission Hand Therapy Program Upon Hire
