Job summary

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Virginia is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Care team. This full-time, day-shift position runs Monday through Friday with one weekend day per month and one holiday per year.

You will evaluate patients, document progress, and collaborate with the care team to design and adjust therapy interventions as needed to support recovery and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in VA.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to department policies for evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communicate with patients, families, medical staff, and care teams while completing administrative tasks.
• Demonstrate competency in treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
• Select evaluation and treatment methods based on patient diagnosis and status.

Occupational Therapist (OT) Job Responsibilities

• Adheres to department policies regarding the timeframe, form, and content of written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit.
• Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols while performing re-evaluations, according to department guidelines, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
• Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to patients' diagnosis, age group, and physical/emotional status while formulating appropriate treatment plans.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Licensure: Occupational Therapist VA License
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualification

• Occupational Therapist (OT) experience in the acute care setting
