Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist for on-site work at Johns Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore. The role evaluates, plans, and implements OT treatment, collaborating with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary team to promote independence and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Maryland state license in Occupational Therapy.
• Current CPR certification.
• One year of clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop plans of care for occupational therapy.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions.
• Deliver ADL training, therapeutic exercises, splinting and energy conservation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in team meetings.
• Educate patients and families on home programs and exercises.
• Supervise and support Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.
• Participate in budgeting, policy reviews and quality initiatives.

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing occupational therapy treatment programs for patients. This role works collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote functional independence, improve quality of life, and achieve treatment goals. The Occupational Therapist maintains accurate documentation, provides patient and family education, and participates in ongoing professional development activities.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM and every 3rd weekend (one weekend day)

Responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy evaluations, develop plans of care, establish goals, document progress, and complete discharge summaries.
• Plan and conduct individual and group therapy sessions in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and patient assessments.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve functional independence, including ADL training, therapeutic exercises, splinting, energy conservation, stress management, relaxation techniques, and life skills training.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment plans and discharge needs; actively participate in team meetings.
• Educate patients and families on home exercises and treatment programs using verbal instruction, written materials, and demonstrations.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including empathy in challenging interpersonal situations.
• Manage multiple tasks effectively in psychiatric and/or acute care rehabilitation environments.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of departmental equipment and supplies.
• Participate in departmental goal setting, quality assurance initiatives, budgeting, and annual policy reviews.
• Supervise and support Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants in alignment with professional standards.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
• One year of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred.
• Current Maryland state license in Occupational Therapy required.
• Current CPR certification required.
