Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate, plan, and implement therapy programs for patients at Johns Hopkins Bayview. You will work with patients and families, document progress, and participate in ongoing professional development in a world-class healthcare environment.

The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with every 3rd weekend on call, in a fast-paced hospital setting alongside a team of healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• One year of clinical experience preferred.
• Maryland state license required.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and plan occupational therapy treatment programs.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate documentation and provide patient education.
• Supervise and support assistants as appropriate.
• Participate in program development and quality assurance.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy

One year of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist

Position Overview:

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing occupational therapy treatment programs for patients. This role works collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote functional independence, improve quality of life, and achieve treatment goals. The Occupational Therapist maintains accurate documentation, provides patient and family education, and participates in ongoing professional development activities.

Location: Johns Hopkins Bayview

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM and every 3rd weekend (one weekend day)

Responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy evaluations, develop plans of care, establish goals, document progress, and complete discharge summaries.
• Plan and conduct individual and group therapy sessions in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and patient assessments.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve functional independence, including ADL training, therapeutic exercises, splinting, energy conservation, stress management, relaxation techniques, and life skills training.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment plans and discharge needs; actively participate in team meetings.
• Educate patients and families on home exercises and treatment programs using verbal instruction, written materials, and demonstrations.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including empathy in challenging interpersonal situations.
• Manage multiple tasks effectively in psychiatric and/or acute care rehabilitation environments.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of departmental equipment and supplies.
• Participate in departmental goal setting, quality assurance initiatives, budgeting, and annual policy reviews.
• Supervise and support Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants in alignment with professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
• One year of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred.
• Current Maryland state license in Occupational Therapy required.
• Current CPR certification required.
