Job summary

Orange Tree Staffing, LLC seeks a bright Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide education-based therapy services to students in Sarasota for the 2026/2027 school year. The role serves preschool through high school populations in in-person sessions within Sarasota County Public Schools.

The position offers both Part-Time and Full-Time opportunities, with responsibilities including screenings, data collection, implementing intervention plans, collaboration with teachers and families,

Qualifications

• OTA licensure required to practice in school settings.
• Experience with pediatric or educational therapy is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering screenings and collecting data under OT supervision.
• Support implementation of individualized intervention plans.
• Provide therapy to improve daily living skills, motor coordination, and sensory processing.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate OT strategies in classroom routines.
• Document student progress and maintain accurate records for IEP meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in administering screenings and collecting data to help identify students’ fine motor, sensory, and functional needs under the direction of a licensed OT.
• Support the implementation of individualized, evidence-based intervention plans developed by the supervising OT.
• Provide therapeutic services to improve daily living skills, motor coordination, sensory processing, and school participation.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate occupational therapy strategies into classroom routines and educational activities.
• Document student performance, maintain accurate records, and share observations with the supervising OT to inform IEP meetings and recommendations.
• Monitor student progress during sessions and provide feedback to the supervising OT to guide adjustments in intervention plans.
• Maintain compliance with documentation requirements, including session notes and progress updates.
• Participate in training and professional development to remain current with best practices in school-based occupational therapy.
