Job summary

Birch Academy in New Hampshire is hiring an Occupational Therapist to join a collaborative, student-centered team within a 10-month specialized school focused on autism and developmental delays. The OT will help students develop motor, sensory, and adaptive skills in multiple learning environments.

The ideal candidate will hold NH licensure (OTR/L or COTA), have experience with autism or developmental delays, and excel in communication and collaboration with teachers, BCBAs, and families.

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in New Hampshire.
• Experience with autism or developmental delays is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations and contribute to IEP development focusing on motor, sensory, and self-help skills.
• Develop and implement individualized and small-group OT sessions.
• Collaborate with educators, BCBA, and families to support functional independence.
• Integrate sensory regulation strategies into classroom routines.
• Consult with staff to support sensory and motor needs throughout the day.
• Monitor progress and document in compliance with policies.

Birch Academy is a 10-month, state-approved specialized school located in New Hampshire, designed to serve students whose primary special education needs relate to Autism and Developmental Delays. Now, we’re looking to expand our team with a dedicated and dynamic Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping students thrive.

Who We’re Looking For: Occupational Therapist (OTR/L or COTA)

The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, and student-centered—ready to support learners in developing the motor, sensory, and adaptive skills needed for success across all learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct evaluations and contribute to IEP development with a focus on motor, sensory, and self-help skill areas

• Develop and implement individualized and small-group occupational therapy sessions

• Collaborate closely with educators, BCBAs, and families to support functional independence

• Integrate sensory regulation strategies into classroom routines

• Provide consultation to staff to support students’ sensory and motor needs throughout the school day

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and school policies

Qualifications:

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of New Hampshire

• Experience working with children with autism or developmental delays (preferred)

• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

• Passion for inclusive, strengths-based, and functional skill-building

• Comfortable working in a team-based, data-driven environment
