About the Department

Our Obstetric Department supports the mission, vision, and values of Lakewood Health System. Our team includes Registered Nurses, Lactation Specialists, Health Unit Coordinators, and Obstetric Technicians. We provide care based on Provider instructions and Nursing Care plans to meet patient goals, ensuring optimal health and safety.

Mission for the Position

The Obstetrics Technician supports the mission and values by providing exceptional care during surgical and delivery procedures. This role ensures a sterile environment, proper handling of instruments, and adherence to safety protocols. Collaborating with the surgical and delivery teams, the technician contributes to safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist delivery providers, anesthesia, or labor and delivery nurses during procedures in the labor room or operating room.
  • Ensure instrumentation is clean, sterile, and functional.
  • Maintain a sterile field during deliveries and procedures.
  • Support staff in caring for patients and families outside delivery areas.
  • Perform tasks such as answering phones, call lights, obtaining vital signs, stocking supplies, and other assigned duties.

Position Type

  • This is a full-time position, working every third weekend, with rotating shifts and holidays.
Qualifications
  • BLS certification required.
