Job summary

BronxCare Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform selected patient care tasks in the Labor and Delivery/Operating suites under supervision. Responsibilities include preparing patients, equipment and supplies for obstetric procedures and assisting the obstetrical team.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Training Program.
• Certification must be obtained within one year of graduation from a Surgical Technologist Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing and maintaining sterile technique and asepsis.
• Prepare and drape operative fields; set up sterile instrument tables.
• Anticipate surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and supplies; monitor progress.
• Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse.
• Assist in positioning patient and applying dressings; transfer to recovery as directed.
• Communicate with the health care team to ensure continuity of care.
