Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Scrub Assistant to support obstetric procedures. You will set up trays, pass instruments, and maintain sterile supplies under RN supervision, ensuring patient safety and efficient team operations.

The role requires OR technician training, CST credential, and NYS regulatory compliance, with duties spanning patient prep, room turnover, and intra-shift reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited OR Technician program is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential NBSTSA is required.
• Must be in good standing with NYS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Scrub Assistant under the supervision of an RN.
• Sets up operating room trays, arranges instruments, sponges, sutures and dressings.
• Assists surgical team during surgery by passing instruments, sponges, and dressings.
• Participates as a nursing team member and assists RN in orientation of new staff.
• Reports pertinent events during shifts (equipment, supplies) and transports patients as needed.
• Utilizes aseptic techniques in OB procedures and prepares OB/Delivery rooms.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Associate's Degree in Operating Room Technology (preferred)

Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician Training Program

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential NBSTSA
