Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a medical record coder to thoroughly review and assign ICD-10 CM and CPT codes based on physician notes and treatments. The role involves abstracting data elements for statistical requests and ensuring timely entry into the hospital system.

Applicants should have coding coursework in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology, plus 1 year of hospital or physician coding experience. RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COP qualifications are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology completed.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries/observations/E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Computer applications understanding.
• Ability to collaborate with health-care team.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical info to assign ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstract data elements and enter coded information into systems.
• Manage unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines and implement changes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
