Job summary

Inova Health System’s OBGYN Fair Oaks team is seeking a Patient Access Associate for a full-time day shift plus one weekly evening shift. The role involves independently handling tasks, verifying insurance, and guiding patients through financial processes to ensure smooth access to care.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of customer service or medical setting experience, with a High School Diploma or GED, and a strong focus on accurate data collection and patient communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of customer service experience or 1 year in a medical setting (associates degree in lieu of experience).

Responsibilities

• Works independently to complete assignments with minimal supervision and improves workflow efficiency.
• Communicates with patients to collect and verify required medical, financial, demographic and insurance information.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability using appropriate communication styles.
• Assists with online payer verification to obtain and validate insurance information.
• Coordinates with other departments to support patients and visitors needing special attention.
• Educates patients about applications for alternative payment sources including medical assistance programs.
• Reports safety hazards and communicates scheduling changes to patients and staff.
