Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support Shelby OBGYN operations. The role involves greeting patients, taking vitals, rooming, managing medical history, and assisting providers with procedures in a fast-paced obstetrics/gynecology setting.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen handling, specimen labeling, POCT, and ensuring accurate charting in the EMR. Training in CLIA-waived tests and patient safety is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent per DD214/EMT options.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows department policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks including vital signs, history, and screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and lab-related duties (venipuncture, labeling, POCT).
• Administers medications and vaccines following safety protocols.
• Handles patient messaging, scheduling, referrals, and supply orders.
• Cross-trained to support various clinic duties within MA scope.
