Job summary

IU Health seeks a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care under supervision in a busy Indianapolis clinic.

Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and basic front-office tasks. CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC certifications and BLS are required, with OSHA/CLIA/CPT knowledge preferred. This full-time role supports efficient patient flow and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant program graduate.
• Certification in CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA or CMAC commonly required.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA and ADA guidelines.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB status validated or to be obtained within 6 months.
• Understanding of Quality Programs and standard work concepts.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document vital signs and patient history.
• Room patients and prepare them for appointments.
• Chaperone during examinations and assist with in-office procedures.
• Set up for and assist providers with procedures; phlebotomy.
• Assist with administrative tasks and patient follow-up.
• Stock clinical supplies and maintain exam rooms; monitor inventory.
