Job summary

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is seeking an Obstetrics Technician to support intra-operative care in the LDRP/OR suites, mainly during deliveries and post-delivery care. Qualifications

• Active BLS certification required.
• Successfully completed medical terminology course and phlebotomy program; completion before 6 months of hire date.
• OB Scrub program completion required.
• CNA or Medical Assistant certification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the sterile field and pass instruments efficiently during procedures.
• Assist surgeon by holding retractors, instruments, suction, and cutting sutures as directed.
• Remove delivery equipment after delivery and ensure room is cleaned per Infection Control guidelines.
• Assist RN during post-delivery care and newborn care, including breastfeeding support and initial newborn bath.
• Contribute information regarding patient condition to discharge planning and care coordination.
• Perform physician-ordered venipuncture under supervision for blood specimen collection.
