Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist to perform OR support under RN supervision. The role involves sterile technique, instrument preparation, and assisting in patient care within the Maternal Child Health division.

The candidate must be CST certified, trained in an accredited CST program, and maintain CE credits annually, with a focus on safety and quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduated from a CAAHEP- or ABHES- accredited program and CST certified.
• Completed a military surgical technology program.
• 15 hours of continuing education (CE) each year.

Responsibilities

• Collects and utilizes data for preparing the surgical suite.
• Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment per procedure.
• Maintains sterile/aseptic technique and follows infection control policies.
• Adheres to dress code, universal precautions and policies.
• Performs sponge, sharps and instrument counts as required.
• Ensures equipment is in good working order and reports unsafe conditions.
• Verifies sterilization process and packaging integrity.
• Assists in decontamination and restocking of supplies/equipment.
• Follows safety regulations and reports incidents to supervisor.
• Maintains REACH values and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.
