Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for flexstaff coverage in the L&D unit. The role runs on a 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM shift with a full-time contract at our New York facilities.

Required CST credential, completion from an accredited program, and at least one year of surgical technologist experience. Duties include maintaining a sterile field, assisting the surgeon, preparing instruments, and ensuring aseptic technique throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
• Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, and holds and maintains a CST credential.

Responsibilities

• Implements and communicates the age specific plan of care and gives thorough reports at change of shift and relief time.
• Communicates with team regarding need for equipment and supplies and implementation of care per policy.
• Participates in turnover and room setup for each surgical procedure and assists with ensuring adequate stock for patient care.
• Monitors infection control and aseptic technique; maintains sterile field and documents accordingly.
• Adheres to aseptic techniques and decontaminates instruments; assists with instrument processing and sterilization.
• Assists surgeon with patient care procedures and performs related duties as assigned.
