Job summary

Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville, CA seeks an experienced Surgical Tech for 12-hour shifts. Under RN supervision, you will assist in OB/GYN surgeries, prepare rooms, and perform scrub duties, with participation in emergencies and disaster drills as required.

Shift: 12-hour with holidays and on-call expectations. The role requires Surgical Technician certification, BLS, and at least 1+ year of surgical tech experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; surgical technician program graduate.
• Current BLS certification required; NBST or NCT certification may be required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Compile and report daily census, admissions, and discharges.
• Assist with admissions/discharges paperwork and maintain medical records.
• Answer phones, screen calls, and dispatch messages.
• Welcomes patients and escorts to rooms; respond to patient needs.
• Schedule cesarean sections and postpartum tubal ligations; coordinate with OR.
• Perform hearing screening and schedule referred screens.
• Set up and break down delivery table; assist OB with instruments.
• Stock labor rooms/OB suites and monitor supplies.
• Transport lab specimens and placentas to refrigeration.
• Assist in OR prep and maintain sterile field during procedures.
• Keep mayo stand organized; label meds and solutions.
• Count sponges, sharps, and instruments; communicate counts.
• Break down OR after cases and prepare OR for next case.
• Adhere to hospital policies, protect patient privacy.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate dependability and professional image.
