Job summary

UP Health System - Portage, a Level I Maternal Care and Nursery facility, seeks an OB RN Director to lead the OB team and coordinate patient care for mothers and babies in Michigan. The role emphasizes quality outcomes, staff development, and clinical excellence.

The OB RN Director will oversee staffing, education, PI initiatives, patient flow, and adherence to standards while supporting a mission to improve community health across the region.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Michigan RN license.
  • Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor’s preferred.
  • 4+ years Labor and Delivery experience; 2+ years leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and coordinates care of the OB patient using nursing process.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
  • Performs performance improvement studies and PI initiatives.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling, educational activities, and performance evaluations.
  • Monitors compliance with accreditation, legal, and regulatory standards.

Job Type: Full-Time 1.0 FTE or 80 hours/pp

Schedule: M-F, 8-hour Day Shifts Salary/Exempt

$5,000 Sign-on Bonus available to eligible applicants PLUS

Up to $5,000 Relocation Assistance available to eligible applicants

How You'll Contribute

An OB RN Director who excels in this role:

  • Provides and coordinates care of the OB patient using nursing process.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of clinical services.
  • Performs performance improvement studies and assists with implementation of PI initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors departmental compliance with applicable requirements, including accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling, educational/development activities, and performance evaluations.
  • Provides and coordinates patient educational needs, specifically to Labor and Delivery.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • 4-years Labor and Delivery experience (preferred)
  • 2-years leadership experience in healthcare (preferred)
  • NRP, AWHONN-EFM, AWHONN-POEP, STABLE (current or within 1 year)
  • Annual influenza vaccination or declination required
