Job summary

Viasat, a global communications company, seeks a skilled software engineer to advance RU M-plane development for an upcoming standards-based global LEO NTN network. You will design, implement, and maintain management applications, integrate with DU/SMO, and automate CI/CD in a devops setting.

The role involves working closely with embedded systems teams and vendor partners, with 60%+ site-based work from a Viasat office, in a multi-location US environment. Requires BS in CS and O-RAN experience.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience with O-RAN and 3GPP tech
• Experience with O-RAN based RU development and integration (C/U/S/M-planes)
• Strong understanding of O-RAN fronthaul/M-plane specifications
• Demonstrated network programming in embedded environments
• Proficiency with NetConf, YANG, JSON
• Experience integrating multi-vendor software (including Open source)
• Use of Docker, Kubernetes, Golang, Python, GitHub Actions, Jenkins
• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident required

Responsibilities

• Use your experience in O-RAN based RU M-plane development and integration with other RU components
• Integration with DU, SMO, and other SAN/network management apps
• Design and implement management apps for configuring/updating/monitoring HW systems
• Maintain and automate CI/CD pipelines for build/testing/deployments
• Support production and lab environments aligned with team’s responsibility
• Update and maintain existing production applications and networks
