Job summary

Viasat is seeking an experienced engineer to advance RU M-plane development for our next-gen O-RAN/NTN network. You will design, implement, and maintain management apps, work closely with embedded systems teams, and help automate CI/CD pipelines across production and lab environments.

Candidates should have 3–5 years in O-RAN/3GPP, strong network programming, and experience with Docker/Kubernetes, Golang, and Python. This site-based role requires US residency and offers a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of experience in O-RAN and 3GPP technologies desired.
• Experience with O-RAN RU development and integration (C/U/S/M-planes).
• Strong understanding of O-RAN fronthaul/M-plane specifications.
• Proven network programming and embedded systems experience.
• Proficiency with NetConf, YANG, JSON.
• Experience integrating multi-vendor software (incl. open source).
• Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, Golang, Python, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident required.

Responsibilities

• Use your experience in O-RAN-based RU M-plane development and integration with other RU components.
• Integrate with DU, SMO, and other SAN/network management apps.
• Design and implement management applications for configuring/updating/monitoring hardware systems.
• Maintain and automate CI/CD pipelines for build/test/deploy.
• Support production and lab environments within the team’s scope.
• Update and maintain existing production applications and networks.
