Job summary

Thinking Machines Lab in New York, NY is seeking an experienced IT engineer to be the primary onsite IT partner for our New York office, resolving hardware, software, access, and network issues. You will own onboarding/offboarding, administer Okta, and support the office's infrastructure and security across macOS devices.

You will collaborate with the SF team on company-wide initiatives, manage IaC using Terraform, and support conference rooms and hybrid events.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT engineering or a similar role.
• Experience supporting employees and technology in an onsite office.
• Strong experience administering identity, SaaS, endpoint-management, and collaboration platforms.
• Working knowledge of Git and version-controlled operational workflows.
• Ability to independently own IT operations for the New York office while collaborating with a distributed team.
• Onsite work Monday through Friday in New York; travel to San Francisco ~1 week per month.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary onsite IT resource for the New York office, handling hardware, software, access, network, and workplace tech issues.
• Own onboarding and offboarding for New York employees, including device procurement and provisioning.
• Administer Okta, SSO, app integrations, provisioning, and access management.
• Contribute to IaC efforts managing Okta and other SaaS platforms with Terraform and Git workflows.
• Oversee day-to-day operation of the New York office tech infrastructure, including networking and security systems.
• Set up conference room tech, support hybrid meetings and company-wide events.
• Maintain macOS devices via MDM; Kandji experience a plus.
• Collaborate with San Francisco IT/Security on cross-location initiatives and incident response.
• Coordinate with vendors and building management for office technology projects.
