Job summary

Artheon is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support oversight of municipal infrastructure and capital projects across New York City. You will assist the Resident Engineer with daily construction management, review documentation, monitor contractor performance, and ensure compliance with contracts, specs, and safety during field operations.

The role is focused on civil infrastructure in NYC with potential growth into project management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5–8 years of construction management or public infrastructure experience.
• EIT Certification is required; NY/NJ PE preferred.
• Experience on civil infrastructure or municipal projects; familiarity with drawings, specs, and contract administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Office and project docs.

Responsibilities

• Assist Resident Engineer with day-to-day construction management oversight.
• Monitor activities for compliance with plans, specs, and agency requirements.
• Coordinate with field inspectors, engineers, contractors, and design consultants.
• Review daily inspection reports, schedules, progress updates.
• Assist with RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, change orders.
• Monitor progress against schedules and identify delays or issues.
• Assist with reviewing payment applications and quantities.
• Track deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Participate in site meetings and prepare minutes.
• Support monthly progress reports and status updates.
• Assist with field changes and coordination questions.
• Monitor safety compliance and report hazards.
• Maintain organized project records and logs.
• Assist with substantial completion inspections and closeout.
• Escalate technical issues to the Resident Engineer.
