Job summary

Long Beach Unified School District is seeking a Nutrition Services Assistant Director to help plan and direct the district's nutrition programs. You will supervise staff, oversee site operations, and ensure compliance with federal/state laws while assisting in budgeting and program development.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in food and nutrition (Master’s preferred), several years of supervisory experience in large-scale food service, and a valid CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or related field required or equivalent.
• Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• Four years of supervisory or management experience in an institutional food service setting; K-12 experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and directing the Nutrition Services department operations and activities.
• Supervise and evaluate assigned staff; interview and recommend personnel actions.
• Visit sites to observe operations and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Participate in budget development and monitor expenditures within approved limits.
• Coordinate with Food Service managers and district personnel on operations and planning.
