Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Nutrition Service Supervisor to coordinate and direct our Nutrition Services Department, guiding cafeteria management, food preparation, budgeting and staff development. You will help oversee nutritional support for patients, staff and guests while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes leadership, standard operating procedures, and collaboration with other departments to deliver high-quality meals and service in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Two years of healthcare food service experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Graduate of an associate degree program in food service.
• Certified Dietary Manager or Dietetic Technician registration, if required by state or regulatory agency.
• Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if mandated by state or regulatory agency.
• Thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, HACCP guidelines, and hospital food service operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Nutrition Service Manager in absence.
• Oversee purchasing, receiving and inventory control of food and supplies.
• Maintain sanitation and proper temperatures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques meet HACCP guidelines.
• Determine quality, quantity and portion sizes for meals.
• Coordinate production for patient meals and cafeteria service.
• Handle cash/ticket processes and reports accurately.
• Coordinate dietetic services with other departments.
• Assist with special meals and events as needed.
• Conduct in-service education meetings and training when required.
