Job summary

INTERLAKES COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP in Sioux Falls seeks a dedicated Nutrition Cook to help power Head Start meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and served with care.

You will plan with the Health Manager, prepare and serve meals, and ensure safety, sanitation, and timely service in a supportive kitchen team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service and sanitation practices.
• Ability to operate basic kitchen equipment and simple computer/phone tools.
• Reliable, organized, accurate, and works well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus with Health Manager and prepare meals meeting nutrition standards.
• Record temperatures, portions, and daily meal counts for reporting.
• Order, receive, date, store, rotate, and secure food and supplies.
• Maintain sanitation and coordinate volunteers as needed.
• Verify invoices and submit to program supervisor.

As a Nutrition Cook in Sioux Falls, you’ll power Head Start days with meals that are appetizing, nutritious, and served with care. This role exists to keep children’s nutrition on track while maintaining a kitchen that runs safely, smoothly, and on time.

Key responsibilities:

• Partner with the Health Manager on menu planning and recipe use
• Prepare, cook, and serve meals that meet program nutrition standards
• Record food temperatures, portion sizes, and daily meal counts for required reporting
• Estimate needs; order, receive, date, store, rotate, and secure food/supplies
• Maintain sanitation and equipment care; coordinate volunteers as needed
