Job summary

A local community organization in Columbia County is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Aide Substitute to join their Head Start team. This part-time position focuses on preparing and serving nutritious meals to children, maintaining a welcoming kitchen environment, and fostering positive relationships with staff and children. Ideal candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with experience working with young children. A valid PA driver's license is required for the role, which operates during the school year from August to June.

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, OR, an eighth-grade education and two years of experience in a related field.
• Preferably have had direct experience working with young children.
• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–2:30 PM, as needed

Program Year: August–June

Position Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare, cook, and portion nutritious meals for children.
• Serve meals to classrooms with care and efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
• Order food and supplies when needed during your substitution timeframe.
• Foster positive relationships with staff and children, following the principles of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Communicate clearly in person and over the phone.
