Job summary

North Big Horn Hospital District is seeking a Unit Manager - Nursing to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing and directing the Nursing Services department in accordance with state and federal standards and facility policies.

This managerial role coordinates staffing, budgets, quality assurance, compliance, and patient care, while communicating with physicians, staff and families to ensure compassionate, high‑quality service.

Qualifications

• Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home, or related health care facility.
• Current unrestricted RN license in practicing state.
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement and direct day-to-day Nursing Services operations.
• Interpret and communicate policies to nursing staff.
• Participate in admission decisions.
• Attend daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes and resident changes in status.
• Oversee staff performance and apply discipline per policy.
• Participate in QAPI and performance improvement activities.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to improve care quality.
• Assist with nursing schedules to meet resident needs and budget standards.
• Recruit, hire and terminate nursing personnel as indicated.
• Conduct rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are met.
• Provide in-service training to ensure nursing staff is current in knowledge and skills.
• Promote teamwork, mutual respect and effective communication.
• Implement infection control practices per guidelines.
• Participate in budget development for the nursing department.
• Assist in inspections and mock surveys.
• Respond to and resolve complaints and concerns with residents and families.
