Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) in Hinton, WV seeks a Head Nurse Manager to supervise nursing services within an assigned unit, ensuring safe, effective and efficient care. You will plan, organize and control department activities, enforce standards, and drive quality improvements while coordinating with physicians and other departments.

The role requires an RN with current licensure, preferably BSN/MSN, and at least five years of management and clinical experience in a nursing leadership

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing and current licensure in state.
• BS or MSN is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience and demonstrated management and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the department by planning, organizing and controlling all activities.
• Enforces work standards and procedures in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
• Implements total quality management concepts into unit operations.
• Develops and enforces principles of effective nursing care on the unit.
• Maintains communication between unit personnel, physicians and other departments.
• Provides direct patient care when necessary and ages appropriate.
• Relieves other Head Nurse Managers and Supervisors as required and may work varied shifts.
• Maintains knowledge of field and recommends new services, products and equipment.
• Participates in professional development and education for nursing leadership.
• Interview, select and evaluate personnel; ensure orientation and licensure.
• Develops work schedules and assigns staff based on patient needs.
• Prepare departmental budgets and reports; attend meetings.
• Adheres to infection control policies.
• May work off shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
• Performs other related duties.
