Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) seeks a Clinic Head Nurse to oversee a nursing unit, providing strong clinical leadership and ensuring adherence to policies and plans. The role includes direct patient care tasks, coordination with physicians, and staff management to maintain quality care and safety standards.

Responsibilities include supervising procedures (IVs, chemotherapy, EKGs), assisting doctors, counseling patients and families, and ensuring proper billing and insurance verification.

Qualifications

• RN preferred, LPN required.
• Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Nursing Supervision.
• Demonstrated management and clerical skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide clinical leadership for a nursing unit.
• Perform nursing procedures (IV starts, chemotherapy, EKG) and ensure cart stock.
• Assist physicians and cover LPN duties as needed.
• Counsel patients and families about illness, treatment, and medications.
• Educate patients and verify insurance coverage and Medicaid payments.
• Secure pre-authorization for admissions and procedures to ensure proper payment.
• Schedule surgeries and ensure pre-op workups are completed.
• Interview, hire, promote, transfer, discipline, and terminate staff as needed.
• Create work schedules ensuring adequate staffing for physicians.
• Develop and maintain safety plans and comply with OSHA requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
