Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking an experienced unit assistant to support nursing operations and patient care delivery. You will handle data entry, patient records, and administrative tasks to ensure efficient department workflows.

The role requires interacting with patients, families, nurses, and physicians, scheduling, and maintaining forms. HIPAA and OSHA compliance are essential, with weekends or varying shifts as noted in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of unit assistant or front medical office secretarial experience unless graduate of a relevant training program.
• Health unit coordinator course preferred.
• Associate's degree in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to intercom requests and obtain services from nursing and physicians.
• Greet visitors and relay calls; give directions and refer inquiries to staff.
• Maintain logs & reports, schedule appointments, typing, filing, copying, faxing and ordering office supplies to coordinate department activities.
• Enter patient records and notes; handle discharge, admission and personal information forms.
• Answer phones, greet visitors, schedule appointments, type, file, copy, fax and order supplies to support the department.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Perform other related duties as required.
