Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan seeks a dedicated Unit Clerk to support the daily operations of the nursing unit. You will maintain charts, records, and supply inventories while coordinating with healthcare teams. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certificate of completion for Clerk-Nursing or comparable education/experience is required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross is required.

Responsibilities

• Completes work assignments during scheduled time period while maintaining a work environment conducive to efficient unit operation.
• Maintains current inventory of unit supplies and equipment, accepts responsibility for reordering supplies in anticipation of unit needs.
• Facilitates the resolution of identified problems through factual documentation and reporting.
• Maintains accurate and complete records, charts, files: Admission/discharge charts prepared in a uniform manner; All patient records properly identified and checked daily for needed forms; Past records available on unit; Current chart copies of Ancillary Service reports maintained; Surgical charts checked and completed; Accurately enters orders into computer system.
• Utilizes computer system according to established guidelines and procedures including: Attending required classes and reviews; Demonstrating competence in all computer applications; Assisting with distribution and posting of reports and forms; Identifying and reporting hardware/software problems to appropriate resource persons.
• Adheres to established emergency and disaster procedures.
• Demonstrates competency and knowledge in the utilization of specified equipment.
• Demonstrates competency and knowledge in performing basic and specified skills.
• Assumes responsibility for obtaining current accurate information and expanding knowledge base through utilization of appropriate learning experiences.
• Assists in maintaining a safe unit environment.
• Consistently demonstrates Bay Pride behaviors.
• Complies with Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent
