Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Nursing Technician to support Registered Nurses by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with mobility and daily tasks. This role operates under close supervision to help deliver safe, compassionate care in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with meals, personal care, monitoring vitals, documenting procedures, and ensuring safety for fall-risk patients while maintaining clean, stocked units and effective team

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurse Aide Certification as mandated by NC DHHR.
• BLS CPR certification (ARC or AHA) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living tasks and progressive mobility.
• Observe and document patient conditions to support the care plan.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients per plan of care.
• Monitor blood glucose and record vital signs; assist with EKGs.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and unit inventories.
• Ensure fall-risk patients have appropriate safety measures.
• Document all clinical procedures and medication use.
• Respond to delegation from registered nurses and assist accordingly.

Job description

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

• Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
