Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Nursing Technician to support the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions and by assisting with mobility and daily tasks. Under supervision, you will help provide comfortable care and maintain a safe environment while contributing to the plan of care.

The role requires completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and state nurse aide certification with CPR/BLS.

Qualifications

• Supports patients with meals, personal care and progressive mobility to aid recovery.
• Monitors nutrition, hydration, and elimination to plan resource use and anticipate needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients per the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures: glucose checks, vital signs, EKGs, restraints, and elimination needs.

Job description

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
