Job summary

Insight Hospital and Medical Center Chicago is seeking a Nursing Supervisor / Intake Coordinator to oversee hospital operations, bed placement, staffing, and behavioral health intake across shifts. You will coordinate referrals, admissions, and continuity of care while ensuring confidentiality and high-quality service.

Applicants should hold an ADN (BSN preferred), CPR/ACLS, and experience with EMR and bed-tracking tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Nursing license; ADN required, BSN preferred.
• CPR and ACLS certification required; PALS preferred.
• Knowledge of mental health and substance-use disorders; age-appropriate screening.
• Strong clinical assessment, screening, and disposition skills.
• Knowledge of patient-flow, bed-placement, discharge, transfer, surge-capacity, staffing, escalation.
• Proficient with EMR, bed-tracking tools, scheduling, and reporting systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills; confidentiality
• Ability to communicate clearly and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospital-wide operational oversight during shifts.
• Coordinate patient placement and bed coordination; manage transfers.
• Screen behavioral health requests and determine level of care.
• Verify medical coverage, obtain initial authorization, document in EMR.
• Review discharge plans and ensure safe disposition.
• Coordinate staffing before next shift; coach and evaluate staff.
• Lead surge/capacity response with leadership and Case Management.
• Monitor performance using bed-tracking data and daily metrics.
• Support budget planning and cost-conscious operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
