Job summary

Intermountain Health in Colorado is seeking a nursing student who has completed at least one medical/surgical rotation and is pending licensure. The role supports under RN supervision and aims to transition into a new graduate nurse resident position as cohorts become available.

Responsibilities include responding to patient needs, assisting with basic procedures, documenting care, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• A student in good standing in an accredited School of Nursing program, having completed a minimum of one medical/surgical rotation.
• BLS-HCP Certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire with prior approval.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting with hygiene and nourishment, and communicating with the care team.
• Assists with Foley catheter and nasogastric tube insertions, care, and removal.
• Checks and documents patient vitals, glucose levels, inputs, and outputs; documents care with RN signature.
• Performs secondary assessments as additions to the primary assessment performed by a Registered Nurse.
• Educates patients and families about disease, medications, and interventions related to the plan of care.
• Assists nurses and physicians within scope and competency.
• Adheres to infection prevention standards and contributes to patient experience goals.
• Assists with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges per safe patient handling.
