Job summary

Intermountain Health's Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO is seeking a nursing student who has completed at least one medical/surgical rotation and is pending licensure. The position is part-time and aims to transition into a new graduate nurse resident role as licensure is obtained.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will respond to patient care needs, document vitals, assist with basic procedures, educate patients and families, and support transfers and admissions as needed.

Qualifications

• Student in good standing in an accredited School of Nursing with at least one medical/surgical rotation.
• BLS-HCP certification due upon hire or within 60 days with prior approval.
• Preferred: completion of clinical coursework except final/capstone; 1+ year healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs by answering call lights, assisting with hygiene and nourishment, obtaining vital signs, and communicating with the care team.
• Assists with Foley catheter and NG tube insertions, care, and removal as directed.
• Checks and documents patient vitals, glucose, inputs/outputs, with RN signature.
• Performs secondary assessments alongside the RN.
• Educates patients and families about disease processes, medications, and care plans.
• Assists nurses and physicians within scope and competency.
