Job summary

Caring Hands Healthcare of New York is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to manage nursing department schedules, fill vacancies, and maintain attendance records. You will coordinate with unit managers, orientation scheduling, and payroll to ensure accurate compensation and compliant operations.

Ideal candidates have prior staffing coordination experience, strong computer skills (MS Word/Excel/Outlook), and excellent communication, time management, and collaborative abilities.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as staffing coordinator or similar position required
• 2 years’ experience in health related field preferred but not required
• Experience working with computer systems and software
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook is required
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent time management & prioritization skills required
• Collaborative spirit and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Develop Nursing Department work schedules by allocating employees in shifts and position
• Fulfilling staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
• Keeping meticulous attendance records and assisting with the progressive disciplinary process if staff members accrue excessive absences and/or tardiness
• Communicating with Unit Managers, In-Service Director and the Director of Nursing regarding floor orientation scheduling for newly hired employees in the nursing department
• Informs the supervisor(s) of last minute shift changes ensuring proper shift coverage
• Checking time clock punch records against master schedules and noting the appropriate changes
• Filling time correction forms for events such as missing meal periods or forgetting to clock in/out
• Acts as liaison with temporary staffing agencies who send nurses/nursing assistants to the facility
• Utilizing computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule
• Develop staff and promote a supportive team environment
• Assume responsibility for timekeeping and time off requests
• Collaborate with payroll to ensure correct employee compensation
• Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations
• Prepare and submit reports on staffing operations
