• Clinical Leadership
• Maintains 24/7 accountability for patient care operations. Works with unit leadership and House Supervisors to support unit needs and access to leadership representation 24 hours, 7 days a week.
• Collaborates with colleagues to develop and implement patient care philosophy, standards of practice, department goals, policies and procedures.
• Provides developmentally appropriate clinical care within professional domain to ensure delivery of quality care; participates in emergent situations as appropriate.
• Assesses staffing to meet census, acuity and budget goals; implements recruitment, retention and onboarding strategies with HR and departments.
• Ensures continual delivery of high quality nursing care.
• Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and CMS standards and regulatory agencies.
• Enforces adherence to state nursing act requirements; measures health outcomes and adjusts as needed.
• Assumes bed-manager responsibility with House Supervisor as scheduled.
• Stays current and advances nursing management practices and Phoenix Children’s policies.
• Manages personnel administration for units, including recruitment and staff selection.
• Implements strategies to maintain high staff engagement and satisfaction.
• Assists staff with goal setting and performance development.
• Evaluates staffing patterns and matches competency to acuity.
• Manages grievances and monitors fitness for duty; initiates corrective action.
• Identifies KPIs, collects data and ensures documentation.
• Collaborates with Clinical Education Specialists for orientation and development.
• Participates in quality reviews and uses dashboards for improvement.
• Recognizes impact of reimbursement on revenue and monitors room and procedural charges.
• Reviews financial data and advises on budgets and resource use.
• Collaborates with leaders to monitor revenue, expenses and capital budgets.
• Conducts productivity evaluations.
• Establishes and oversees unit-based goals aligned with division and organizational priorities.
• Supports Phoenix Children’s growth through program development and implementation.
• Oversees care delivery and participates in committees.
• Facilitates shared governance and just culture within units.
• Supports unit-based and system-wide quality improvement initiatives.
• Influences nursing practice through professional involvement.
• Performs miscellaneous job duties as requested.
