Indiana University Health seeks a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner to enhance staff education, competency, and growth. This role focuses on inpatient Med-Surg and Oncology Infusion education, partnering with leaders to support strategic goals and initiatives.

The NPD Practitioner will lead onboarding, competency management, and collaboration across units, promoting evidence-based practice and excellence in patient care.

Qualifications

• BSN required and active nursing license in Indiana or NLC.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching methods.
• 3–5 years of nursing experience preferred; educator/preceptor experience preferred.
• Ability to travel to support educational needs across the system.
• Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• BLS certification required; additional life-support certifications may be needed depending on unit.

• Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and role development initiatives.

Nursing Professional Development Practitioner

Role Overview

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner utilizes professional judgment and expertise to enhance the role competence and growth of learners across various settings, supporting the IU Health Way. Key responsibilities include onboarding and orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships, and inquiry. This role often functions at the unit or facility level, partnering with leaders and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals and initiatives.

Position Overview

The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner plays a vital role in fostering professional growth, ensuring competency, and supporting educational needs within the organization. They serve as a resource and leader in adult learning principles, working collaboratively to promote excellence in patient care and staff development across IU Health. The primary focus of this role will be Inpatient Med-Surg & Oncology Infusion education.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Licensure:
• Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Additional advanced life support certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty.
• Experience:
• 3-5 yrs years of nursing experience preferred.
• Educator/Preceptor experience strongly preferred
• Knowledge & Skills:
• Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and techniques.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support educational needs across the system.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
