Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner at Bedford Hospital on-site in Bedford Park, IL. The role focuses on onboarding, competency management, education, and collaboration with unit leaders to advance patient care and staff development.

Primary focus is inpatient Med-Surg & Oncology Infusion education with opportunities to lead programs, mentor staff, and apply adult learning principles.

Qualifications

• BSN required from an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN license in IN or NLC.
• BLS certification required.
• 3–5 years nursing experience preferred; educator/preceptor preferred.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles; strong collaboration and communication.
• Willingness to travel to support educational needs across IU Health.

Responsibilities

• Lead onboarding and orientation for new staff and learners.
• Manage and assess competency development for clinical staff.
• Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and role development initiatives.
• Build partnerships with unit leaders, educators, and stakeholders to support goals.
• Facilitate inquiry and evidence-based practice to promote improvement.
• Support system-wide and unit-specific educational strategies.
