Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist offers a nine-week Nurse Summer Externship for senior nursing students to gain hands-on experience while collaborating with experienced teams across the Wake area.

The program supports the transition to licensed Registered Nurses, with dates May 31, 2027 to July 31, 2027 and an application deadline of November 6, 2026. Eligibility includes ADN/BSN enrollment, imminent graduation, and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by providing direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, discharges, and pre- and post-procedure care.
• Performs assigned clinical procedures under appropriate supervision.
• Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, teammates, and visitors.
• Ensures accurate, timely, and effective communication of patient information.
• Provides age-appropriate care consistent with organizational and unit-based standards.
